Keppel Lookout in Marysville

Keppel Lookout is a stunning vantage point overlooking Marysville with views towards the Cathedral Range and Lake Mountain. A 15-kilometre circuit crowned as the best hike in Marysville can take you there; otherwise, save the legs and drive. The road is unsealed and steep in sections but is suitable for most cars. Just a further 50-metre walk on gravel from the car park to Keppel Lookout – easy and accessible for all.  If you’re brave and choose to hike, the Keppel Lookout Trail begins nearing the top lookout at Steavensons Falls. The scenery is most appreciated on a clear day as fog and low-lying cloud can obscure the mountains. In saying that, Winter brings its own aesthetics to the Yarra Valley region. Lake Mountain turns white and on occasion snow falls even as low as Marysville.

How to get to Keppel Lookout:

1. Travel Towards the carpark at the end of Keppel Lookout Road. **
2. The extension of Lyell Road from the town of Marysville drives into the hills.
3. After 4-kilometres or 10-minutes or so, look for the Keppel Lookout Road on the left.
4. Park in the car park at the end of the road and walk 50-metres to the lookout.

** Keppel Lookout Road is unsealed but suitable for most cars.

Very easy if you drive. Difficult if you hike. Free Camping?  Anderson Mill Campground, 15-minute drive. Dog Friendly? Permitted on lead at lookout. Not permitted inside Steavenson Falls Reserve. Facilities? Picnic Table. No toilets.
